Responsibility

It is an unfortunate fact that textile production impacts our environment and resources. At Bongusta, we strive to act as responsibly as possible in everything we do.

At Bongusta, our primary focus is on producing reliable, high-quality products that are not only beautiful and durable but also designed for long-term use. We primarily use natural materials or recycled cotton, as these materials are often very durable due to their naturally strong fibres. Natural fibres also have excellent absorbency, making them an ideal choice for towels. Generally, natural fibres require fewer chemicals during production, making them an environmentally friendly choice. Our use of recycled materials helps reduce waste and requires less water, land, and energy compared to the production of new cotton. We apply relevant certifications to our products, meaning that our suppliers and production facilities meet strict environmental and social standards throughout the entire production process.

Our Bongusta Care Club provides customers with helpful tips on how to care for and maintain their Bongusta products, ensuring they last as long as possible. We also encourage customers to recycle or donate their Bongusta products when they no longer need them.

Suppliers

Close collaboration with our suppliers is essential to Bongusta. We regularly visit our partners to ensure that our production, design, quality, and working conditions meet the agreed standards. We currently work with five carefully selected suppliers, chosen based on their values, working methods, certifications, and open dialogue. We also employ local staff who live near the factories, ensuring Bongusta’s standards are met in terms of stability, proper working conditions, and social and environmental practices.

We are working towards GOTS certification in 2025, just as most of our suppliers already are. For further information, please refer to our Code of Conduct, which ensures that all parties operate under the same values, conditions, and standards outlined above.

Craftsmanship

At Bongusta, we have a passion for unique, handmade products. We value the culture and craftsmanship traditions that are often passed down from generation to generation. Each product tells its own story, and often, products vary slightly from one another, reflecting the human touch behind them. We support this culture, which is increasingly being replaced by machine-based mass production.

Packaging
Our packaging is primarily made from recycled materials, and we always reuse packaging when possible. We are continuously transitioning to FSC™ certified cardboard boxes, and all our bags are made from LDPE plastic (PE04), sourced from recycled products. Additionally, we employ efficient, flat packing methods to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions during transport.

Shipping
Shipping undeniably has a significant impact on CO2 emissions. As such, we strive to transport as many of our goods as possible by sea. Our goal is for 100% of our products to be shipped by sea; currently, it’s around 95%.
